The forest, located in northern New Amsterdam, has a complicated history from cultist activities to missing people. There is one little section in the forest trail where many people get lost or found dead, it is often called “suicide curve”. It is called that because the authorities would chop up the dead bodies to suicides. “Suicide curve” is a bushy part of the trail with lush overgrowth. In addition, it also has rougher terrain with higher elevation.
One notable missing person is Isaac Carson, whose family created one of the first restaurants/taverns in New Amsterdam. Some locals say he died in the forest on 22/1955, although no remains were ever found or saved.
Only a couple years ago, a fence was built to stop people from accidentally going off trail. Suicide curve is widely unused now.
